PASADENA – A 41-year-old elementary school teacher accused of abusing seven female students between August 1997 and April 2010 has been charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse, the District Attorney’s Office announced.
Wade Joseph Bughman (dob 8/3/68) of Monrovia is expected to appear for arraignment this afternoon in Department D of Pasadena Superior Court. The defendant was charged in case No. GA080294 on June 11 in a felony complaint which was filed for an arrest warrant.
Bughman, a sixth-grade teacher at Beardslee Elementary School in Duarte, is charged with four counts each of continuous sexual abuse and lewd act upon a child. He is additionally charged with one count each of oral copulation of a person under 14, forcible rape and sexual penetration by a foreign object.
The complaint alleges that all of the victims were under the age of 14 at the time of the abuse. The victims – the youngest of whom was a second grader – were all students at Beardslee Elementary, prosecutors said.
The recommended bail for the defendant is $2.1 million. Bughman faces multiple life terms in prison, if convicted as charged.
