Approximately 30 alumni swimmers joined Coach Joe Zambrano and the current Swim/Dive team on December 21 for the Maranatha’s first annual Alumni Swim Meet.
Alumni ranged from 2011 graduates to 2007 graduates, who started when the Swim program officially began at Maranatha in 2005 on their new campus. Though many alumni had not swam competitively since high school, some do swim for their colleges such as Cal Tech, Northeastern, Wheaton, APU, and Biola.
The alums enjoyed reminiscing about the “early” days of MHS swim when there were just 4 swimmers and to see that the team has grown to over 80 athletes in just six years is a real testament to the school and the coaches. The alums also admired the impressive record board that recently went up and guessed how long each alumni name would stay on the board. Overall, it was a great time to reminisce and see old friends and the alumni won! Maranatha High School is a college prep Christian High School located near Old Town Pasadena. Applications for admissions are due February 3, 2012.
