LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Board of Supervisors today renewed a $10,000
reward for information leading to the killer of a 17-year-old John Muir High
School student in Altadena.
Jerrill Dulaney was walking home from a friend's house about 11:10 p.m.
on May 9, 2009, when he was shot outside 34 E. Altadena Drive, near Fair Oaks
Avenue. He died of multiple wounds a few hours later at a hospital.
Jerrill was about to graduate from high school and had dreams of being a
firefighter, the Pasadena Star-News reported shortly after the slaying.
Friends and family members told the newspaper that the shy teen had no gang
ties.
``He wasn't in any gang,' his father James told the Star-News at the
time. ``His mother and I were his gang. Wherever he was, I was.'
The shooting, the only fatal one in a rash of three within a 1-mile
radius over three days, helped prompt a community rally against violence.
Supervisor Michael Antonovich asked the board to extend the reward,
which will now be available until at least Dec. 15.
Anyone with more information was asked to call Sgts. Don Wall or Sandy
Nava at the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
