Based on the National Weather Service's severe wind advisory warning that remains in effect overnight, all schools of the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) will be closed to students on Friday, December 2, 2011. All afterschool programs, home athletic events, and scheduled meetings are also cancelled.

Although students will not be in school, all monthly district employees are required to report to their sites in the morning, if it is safe to do so, to prepare campuses to open as usual on Monday, December 5.

A preliminary assessment of campuses today indicates that buildings are safe for occupancy, with the exception of some classrooms. Damage reported includes broken windows, sprinklers, and downed trees.

A state of emergency was declared locally due to severe winds and all PUSD schools and sites were closed on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
