ARCADIA (CNS) - A man in a stolen car led police on a chase from Arcadia
into Monrovia, abandoned the car, broke into a house, and was apprehended six-
and-a-half hours later, authorities said today.
The pursuit started about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Santa Clara Street and
Santa Anita Avenue, Arcadia police Lt. Paul Foley said.
A police officer spotted a 1997 Lexus, ran a check on the license plate
and learned the car was reported stolen from Los Angeles, Foley said.
The officer tried to stop the Lexus, but the driver sped away, running
stop signs and accelerating east into Monrovia, Foley said.
The driver ditched the Lexus near Fig and Ivy avenues, and minutes later
a resident in the area reported somebody broke into his home and was hiding
there, a Monrovia police watch commander said.
Special weapons and tactics police from Arcadia and Pasadena responded
and apprehended the man inside the home just before 8 p.m., Arcadia police Sgt.
Stan Flores said.
The arrested man was identified as Ronnie D. Wilson, 26, of Los Angeles.
He was held without bail early today at a lockup in Arcadia, according to
police and inmate records.
Wilson has a court appearance scheduled Tuesday in Pasadena.
