A special San Gabriel School Board meeting at the Jefferson Middle School gym at 7 p.m., open to all members of the public and all SGUSD employees, is scheduled for Monday, January 9, where the SGUSD board members will reconsider principal Sharon Heinrich's contract. This is also the Monday evening of the first day students and staff return to school from the winter break.

Those who wish to address the board or express their thoughts concerning what has been a dramatic series of events involving San Gabriel are invited to do so.

On Monday, December 5, the board voted 3-2 not to renew the contract of the Gabrielino principal. The decision was not met with public support, as many in the audience that night disagreed with the majority decision, even calling the recent actions an abuse of school board power.
