Andrea Klein, a Junior at San Marino High School and active member of the National Charity League, has been busy working on her second annual tennis tournament fundraiser this summer. An avid tennis player and on the San Marino High School Tennis Team, Andrea will be hosting “AndreaKlein’s Second Annual Summer Invitational 2011” July 30th through July 31st at the beautiful Arroyo Seco Racquet Club in South Pasadena. This junior charity tennis tournament is for ages 18 and under. Entries are $20.00, including a tee shirt for each participant and trophies for the finalists.
All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to “Let’s Teach”, a tennis outreach program founded by ATP Doubles Champion John Lett’s and Australian Open Singles Champion Brian Teacher. “Let’s Teach” works to help disadvantaged children who can’t afford tennis lessons. Targeting Middle School age children in the hopes that they will develop the necessary skills to compete on the high school teams, “Let’s Teach” works with schools like John Muir High School who do not have the skilled players necessary to have a high school tennis team.
Last year Andrea was able to raise money to donate two tennis ball machines and sixty tennis racquets to “Let’s Teach”. Andrea Klein’s First Annual Summer Invitational 2010 was Andrea’s Girl Scout Gold Award Project. Her tournament was such a success that she has decided to make it an annual event.
