SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities asked the public today for help in
determining who fatally poisoned eight dogs at a Logan Heights trailer park
over the weekend.
The rash of pet deaths at El Rey Trailer Plaza came to light Saturday,
according to the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. Animal control officers
investigating the crimes found five dead dogs that day and three more on
Sunday.
The apparent poisonings appear to be ``a case of intentional animal
cruelty,' said Randy Lawrence, director of investigations for the Humane
Society.
``We are asking the community to please report any leads or possible
suspects,' he said. ``We take all cases of animal cruelty and neglect
seriously, and we will continue to investigate all possibilities until we
identify a perpetrator.'
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call San Diego
County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477, or e-mail the agency at
sdcrimestoppers.com. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a
reward of up to $1,000.
