Villa Esperanza Golf Tourney Raises Over $175,000

SOCIETY, EVENTS & OTHER GOOD CAUSES
Villa Esperanza Services held their 20th Anniversary Tournament of Hope on Monday, October 1st at Glendora Country Club. The event included Villa’s first ever helicopter golf ball drop allowing online gifts from as far away as the Netherlands.
The internationally promoted Tournament, presented by Wells Fargo, raised $175,000 for Villa’s programs and services. There were 144 golfers and over 200 dinner guests for the live and silent auction, cocktails and dinner.
The evening’s MC was Jorge Jarrin, “Captain Jorge” of KABC Talk Radio/Los Angeles Dodgers and included an award presentation to Joe W. DeFur, Executive Vice President, Regional Managing Director of Wells Fargo Private Client Services for his dedication to Villa and the community.
Over the last 20 years the tournament has raised over $1.5 million to support programs for children and adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities such as autism and Down syndrome.
Chaired by Board Member Vrajesh “Brij” Lal, CEO of Wrapper USA, the tournament featured a variety of contests and prizes, a live and silent auction and a chance to win cash with the purchase of the winning ball for the golf ball drop.
“The event was wonderful,” stated Brij Lal. “The format of play was fast and everything ran smoothly. There was a lot of excitement around the golf ball drop. Everyone enjoyed seeing the golf balls tossed from the helicopter.”
Villa Esperanza Services began its mission of love, care and hope for individuals with developmental disabilities over 47 years ago. Founded in 1961 by a group of mothers who believed their developmentally disabled children deserved quality care and education.
Today, Villa serves over 1050 individuals with disabilities and their families in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Programs for both our children and adults continue to grow and help meet the ever changing needs of the community.
